A francocide is a violent crime committed against a French person by a foreigner or a French national of foreign descent. This analysis identifies such incidents based on victim nationality/name origin and perpetrator nationality/ethnicity/name origin.
Criteria: Violent crimes only (homicide, assault, sexual assault, robbery, etc.). French victims identified by nationality or French first name. Foreign perpetrators identified by non-French nationality, ethnicity, or first name origin.
Perpetrator Origin: Refers to the cultural/geographic origin of the perpetrator's first name (e.g., Islamic, West African, Turkish, etc.), not their nationality. A perpetrator with a French first name (French/Francophone) may still appear if they have an explicit foreign nationality or ethnicity in the data.
